NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Dove Award-winning vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Byron "Mr. Talkbox" Chambers joined America's preeminent bassist, Nathan East, in Los Angeles last week for a special performance of "Daft Funk," the lead single from East's best-selling self-titled debut. Held at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, the star-studded Yamaha Entertainment Group event also featured performances from Patti Austin, Ben Folds, Michael McDonald and Josh Groban, among others.
"Daft Funk" is East's ode to the GRAMMY®-winning album he helped record with Daft Punk. Featuring Chambers and including contributions by legendary session guitarist Ray Parker, Jr., the song recently reached #2 on Billboard's Smooth Jazz chart.
In addition to performing with East, Chambers opened the event with his signature talkbox stylings and later joined David Paich of Toto for the group's mega hit, "Africa." He was also featured on the finale, "Sir Duke," with Summer Horns' Dave Koz, Gerald Albright, Mindi Abair and Richard Elliot.
Chambers is among a roster of many of music's most celebrated talents contributing to Nathan East. Featuring performances by Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton, Sara Bareilles and Michael McDonald, among others, the album debuted at #1 on Billboard magazine's Current Contemporary Jazz chart and claimed the top position on the iTunes Jazz chart, following its March 25 release on the Yamaha Entertainment Group label.
Vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter/producer Byron "Mr. Talkbox" Chambers is one of the most sought-after performers in music today. A former keyboardist for multi-platinum pop icons *NSYNC, Britney Spears and Gloria Estefan, as well as Gospel's legendary Mighty Clouds of Joy, Chambers was a key member of TobyMac's Diverse City band from 2009-2014. He has also appeared on recordings by O-Town and Martha Munizzi, as well as Isaac Carree's #1 Billboard Gospel single, "In The Middle." As a soloist, Chambers has garnered five #1 singles on iTunes Japan.
